Know your rights!
As a consumer, you have rights when it comes to having your vehicle repaired. We've answered some common questions here, but for the full Consumer's Guide to Collision Repair, visit the Ohio Board of Motor Vehicle Repair.
How do I get an estimate?
If you are starting an insurance claim, ask your insurance company what their requirement is for getting a written estimate of repairs. Each insurance company's processes are different.
If you are not starting an insurance claim, or if you'd just like a second opinion, feel free to stop by and have a member of Tiltons Collision Center inspect your vehicle at your convenience.
Do I have to go to a specific shop for repairs?
No! While the insurance company may recommend a DRP repair facility for your vehicle repairs, you, as the vehicle owner, have the legal right to choose where to take your vehicle for repairs.
What is a DRP repair facility?
A DRP repair facility is a body shop within an insurance company's Direct Repair Program. This means the shop has formed a partnership with the insurance company. A DRP repair facility meets the requirements set by the insurance company and agrees to perform specific duties for the insurance company, and in turn, the insurance company refers customers to the shop.
Tiltons Collision Center is not a DRP repair facility and has no affiliation with any insurance companies.
What type of parts will the shop put on my vehicle?
You, as the vehicle owner, have the right to choose what type(s) of parts are installed on your vehicle. Your insurance company will dictate the type(s) of parts they will pay for based on how your policy is written. While we at Tiltons Collision Center will do our best to negotiate with the insurance company on your behalf, you may have an additional out-of-pocket expense if you choose to use only new OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts.
